Dorothy Steinberg, MEd. CCC-SLP

Owner, Lead Speech-Language Pathologist

Dorothy Steinberg is the Owner and Lead Speech-Language Pathologist at Speech & Swallowing Solutions, located in Valdosta, Ga. Dorothy graduated from Valdosta State University in May 2009 with an undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences Disorders .In December 2010, she received a Master’s degree in Speech Pathology. With a great desire to assist in rehabilitation of patients of all ages and unique needs, Speech & Swallowing Solutions was established in 2011.

Dorothy has extensive work experience with infants, children and adults in skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, schools, home health settings, and private practice. Dorothy is known for her interest and specialty with oral motor, feeding and swallowing therapy. She is also acknowledged and sought by patients across the southeast for her multi-sensory, play-based approach to feeding therapy.

Dorothy also specializes in the treatment of Stroke, Voice Disorders, Parkinson’s Disease, Aphasia, Cognitive-Based treatment of Neurological Disorders, Apraxia of Speech, Autism, Downs Syndrome, Speech and Language Delay. Dorothy utilizes a holistic, client center approach for each treatment.

In addition to extensive experience in the field of Speech Pathology, Dorothy maintains the most recent certifications and treatment plans for each patient.

Emily White
MEd. CCC-SLP

Emily White began working at Speech & Swallowing Solutions in 2014 as a high school student. Emily graduated from Valdosta State University in May 2018 with an undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She graduated again from VSU in December 2019 with a Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and has worked as an SLP at Speech & Swallowing Solutions ever since.

Emily has experience working with pediatric patients with speech sound disorders, language delays, fluency disorders, auditory processing disorders, feeding disorders, and dysphagia. Emily also has experience working with adult patients with voice disorders, cognitive deficits, aphasia, and dysphagia associated with conditions such as head and neck cancer, stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, ALS, and dementia. Emily is certified in the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment Program (LSVT LOUD) and VitalStim therapy. 

Emily enjoys working with patients and their families to develop treatment plans to achieve both functional and personal goals. She is often accompanied by her therapy assistant, Rosie the Boston Terrier. Emily and Rosie are passionate about helping their patients work hard to achieve their goals while having fun!

Emily is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist in the state of Georgia, and she holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Katie Lacey
MEd. CCC-SLP

Katie Lacey is from Valdosta, GA. She received both her Bachelor of Science in Education in Communication Disorders and her Master of Education in Communication Disorders from Valdosta State University. Katie has worked at Speech & Swallowing Solutions since 2019; her areas of interest include working with articulation and language disorders. Katie has always had an enthusiasm regarding work with pediatrics, and her undergraduate and graduate studies, along with work experience, have solidified and increased her desire to help children become better communicators. 

 

Katie has clinical experience working with children of all ages in a variety of settings including daycares, schools, and clinics. She has evaluated and treated children with Articulation and Phonological Disorders, Receptive and Expressive Language Disorders, Fluency Disorders, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Social and Pragmatic Language Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, and Intellectual disabilities. 

 

Katie is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist in the state of Georgia, and she holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
